My heart broke in hearing this news and hearing of how the families were being destroyed and devastated. My heart broke that these leaders were being entangled. They needed help. They needed hope.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
John 10:10 tells us that we have a real enemy who is seeking to devour us, kill us and destroy our ministries. He knows if he can hit us as leaders and destroy the testimony and character of Jesus within us, he can affect multitudes of people.
And yet in the same verse we have a powerful truth. Jesus tells us in the second part of this verse, that He came to give us life in abundance; to where it is full and overflowing. This is His promise to us. He gave His life for nothing less than the fullness of His Word.
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). John 10:10 AMP
When I left that meeting, a prayer went up from my heart. A prayer that God would continue to raise up a ministry that would equip and empower leaders. A ministry that would not only help leaders develop and mature strategically in their gifts, callings and strengths, but that God would raise up a ministry that would help these leaders throw off the things that entangle them and empower them to run the race marked out for them. To raise up high-impact leaders who know how to run on high-octane fuel.
And so, through prayer and a long season of waiting on the Lord for vision and clarity, God is birthing something on His heart. Perissos Institute.
